Seasonal Shop Assistant

Sansui Niseko is a luxury hotel located in the beautiful ski resort destination of Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan.

We are currently seeking a Shop Assistant to join our team.

The primary responsibilities of this role include providing warm and attentive customer service to guests visiting the shop, assisting with product recommendations and promotions, operating the cash register, and serving light snacks and beverages.

The position also involves supporting the overall operation of the shop through maintaining cleanliness and organization, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment, and collaborating with other departments to deliver high-quality guest experience.

Candidates with customer service experience in cafés, restaurants, hotels, retail, or other hospitality-related fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open and close the shop, operate the cash register, assist customers, and serve light snacks and beverages.
  • Support product ordering, inventory management, and merchandise display and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shop environment at all times.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service through courteous, professional, and attentive guest interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and maintain effective communication with other departments.
  • Assist in ensuring workplace safety and contribute to a positive and productive working environment.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and provide general assistance and support as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel housekeeping or rooms division role is preferred.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, honest, and responsible, with a strong work ethic.
  • A team player who can adapt to flexible work schedules and operational needs.
  • Possess professional business etiquette and a strong commitment to hospitality and guest service.
  • Respects Japanese service culture and values, and able to provide flexible, high-quality service tailored to guest needs and situations.
  • Business-level English proficiency, along with strong communication skills in either Japanese or Chinese.
  • Experience in cafés, restaurants, retail, or customer service roles is an advantage (experienced candidates preferred).
  • A valid driver’s license is welcome but not required.

Employment Conditions

  • Winter Seasonal Position (approximately November 2026 to March 31, 2027)
  • Hourly Wage: From ¥1,500 per hour and above (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
  • Shift-Based Schedule: Average of 40 working hours per week
